The Elvis costume – your golden ticket to becoming the King!

If you want to rock up to your next themed event and have everyone all shook up before you’ve even grabbed a drink, then the Elvis 50s costume is your golden ticket to becoming the King. Forget subtlety; we’re talking about a look so iconic that one glimpse of those sideburns and that jumpsuit has people reaching for their cameras faster than you can say “Thank you very much.”

There’s something dead-set magical about stepping into the blue suede shoes of Elvis Presley. One minute you’re just regular old you, worried about whether the barbie’s got enough snags. The costumes are really easy to design and a 50s party is really loads of fun to plan. The 50s were about dancing, wide skirts for women, turn up pants for men, lovely hairstyles, cat eyeglasses, aprons, jelly, shoes and socks and of course, wonderful music. Women looked prim and proper but always had a tinkle in their eye, their shirts were well fitted and even sexy, and men looked dapper. Milkshakes were big, as were big bowls of punch, and everyone loved the polaroid camera. You can decorate the table with old fashioned crockery and cutlery, buy plates and cups online that are fifties theme, and use colours like pink and blue. If you can play music on a record player, or get a DJ who can play vinyl, even better.
