Having the right circus costumes will play a major role in debuting your new circus act. You should know the most important things to consider when choosing your costume.

Does the costume keep your breasts contained?

It might feel and look great when you are side up on the ground but what will happen when you are rotating through the air and hanging upside down? You should therefore make sure the girls remain put.

Does it protect you from a rope burn?

You can have a pretty costume but it is useless if it is not sturdy. You should ensure your costume covers any bits of you that the silks or rope rub across and ensure that the material is thick to prevent it from ripping or melting.

Will the costume get caught in the equipment?

When buying costumes online, you should ensure that the costume you buy does not get caught in the equipment during a performance. If your costume is not skin tight or if you have bits that stick out, have a colleague stand by with a pair of scissors for your first runs in costume.

Choose the right colour

You should consider the colour of the silk that you are performing on. Is it the exact colour of your costume or does it clash with your costume? You should avoid dark colours such as black and grey because most theatres are black and dark costumes won’t show well. You should beware of white costumes at specific times of the lunar cycle.

Sparkles can be beautiful but sometimes they get into your eyes as you perform. You should consider this when choosing a sparkly costume.

Wear the right underwear

When choosing circus costumes, you should consider the type of underwear you will be wearing. With some materials, it is better to not wear any underwear.

A circus dress up party is the most fabulous theme for a party, be it a child’s birthday party, a teen’s birthday party and an adult’s party, for any celebration. If you are throwing a circus party you can really get into the theme. If this is an adult party, hire a marquee! And yes, you can have food stalls, one for popcorn, one for cold drinks, one for burgers and one for hot dogs, or similar. You can hire a clown to do a show, and perhaps you can juggle. Juggling can be a game, so can musical clowns! You can pretty much do anything.

A big part of a fancy dress party is always the food and the decor. You can have your costumes from costumes stores online or offline and now you have to plan the rest. Buy a whole lot of coloured streamers and string them all around your make shift marquee. Get flags and hang them all around, spread sawdust on the floor and have a few ball pits. If it is a child’s party, get someone, an adult, to play the ringmaster and someone else to play the fool.  You can play any child’s party game and adapt it to a circus them too.
