  • Fancy dress is a great way to liven up a fun occasion – perhaps a birthday or anniversary party, staff leaving do or graduation party.  Recent years have even seen fancy dress weddings!  The great thing is that the variety of fancy dress costumes is now so wide that you really are limited only by your imagination.

One really fun thing to do is to have a theme party, which can also be helpful in that it gives people an idea of what they’re looking for in their outfit.  Movie nights, such as James Bond or the currently massively popular Suicide Squad are great for getting people’s imaginations to run wild, and you can also have great fun creating movie themed food and drinks to add to the atmosphere.  If film isn’t your thing though, there are still plenty of options – book characters such as Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter or Where’s Wally are all just as much fun for adults as they are children.

Of course, plenty of people prefer free reign if they’re getting to dress up, and as the options are endless you could end up with Jack Sparrow mingling with Teen Wolf over the buffet, or Captain America slow dancing with Frozen’s Elsa (now that’s a weird pairing).

If you are planning on having a fancy dress party, make sure that you give people plenty of notice so that they are able to plan and order their fancy dress costume – particularly if you’re planning it for one of the busier times of year such as Halloween.  It’s also really handy to have a small supply of masks, capes and hats for the inevitable guest that doesn’t quite get the memo about costumes and turns up without one – it’s a great way to stop them feeling left out and help them get into the party spirit.

  • Zombies – there are so many options for zombie costumes here, there’s no way for the genre to get old.  While you could always go for the good, old fashioned classic zombie look (which is always a winner), there are plenty of other routes to go down if you want to do something different.

Perhaps you might want to try zombie-fying one of your favourite characters?  Alice in Wonderland (sometimes known as Malice in Horrorland in this much creepier incarnation) is a good choice, but you could even go as ‘out there’ as turning up as zombie Mario or Luigi.   It would definitely be a little bit different!

Of course, the great thing about zombie costumes is that if you’re a little bit creative you can have endless fun with masks, face paints and contact lenses to make your outfit as authentically scary as you want.  There are some incredible stage make up tutorials doing the rounds on YouTube which mean that achieving a really professional (and terrifying) look is far more achievable than you think.  Even if you don’t want to go down the professional make up route, you can achieve a really simple but effective zombie complexion (which of course we all really crave) by mixing white liquid make up with white or gray face power and applying very liberally – as it dries, it will crack and flake but for once this is the effect that you’re actually going for.  Try to find some good quality fake blood and apply round your mouth and throat for that fresh from the buffet zombie style.  If you’re able to wear them, costume contact lenses can make a zombie costume show-stopping – particularly the white ones that leave just your pupils visible.  Ultra-creepy and perfect for Halloween!

  • Halloween has grown so much in popularity that options for Halloween Costumes are now almost limitless.  Although the standard scary costumes still top the list, there are plenty of options if you would like to try something a little different.

Ladies might like to try one of the new and very on trend Harley Quinn costumes, although there are plenty of other possibilities – some of the Day of the Dead costumes on offer now are stunning, and offer the opportunity to play around with as many (or as few) accessories as you would like.  They can be teamed with intricate masks, face paints and wigs or left as they are if you feel like being more conservative.  If you fancy something more subtly sexy, you could try one of the Arabian Genie costumes – they require very little in the way of accessories, all you need is a bit of smoky eye make-up and you’re good to go.

The great news is that guys are far better catered for than ever before when it comes to costumes now, too.  Gone are the days when the only option was Dracula – there are some incredible Mortal Combat masks out there now if you fancy reliving your console playing days.  Zombie Pirates will always get a good reaction, especially if you team them with a wig dusted with some talc or layers of dry shampoo.  If you want to go all out, you could try some creepy contact lenses to complete the zombie effect.  One of the annually most popular costumes for men has to be the ‘Leatherface’ (Texas Chainsaw Massacre) costume – it’s instantly recognisable and great, creepy fun for scaring the neighbours!  If you and your partner want to go with a theme, there are also some great Day of the Dead men’s costumes out there too – they’re a fantastic option if you’re looking for something a little different in terms of Halloween Costumes this year.

Go Wild with This Years Halloween Costume

  • As you may know, Oktoberfest is a huge two week festival that takes place in Munich every year. This is legendary for the huge amount of beer consumed, along with the incredible variety or traditional, local foods that are served.  Alongside this are funfairs, rides and other amusements, and the whole festival is extremely well known throughout Europe for being enormous fun.  You are probably familiar with the pictures of guys in Lederhosen and girls in Bardot tops and pigtails, and it is these that form the basis of any good Oktoberfest Costume Melbourne.  This is a great one to play around with – certainly, ladies can get as sexy or as conservative as they like with it, and guys don’t necessarily have to go with the traditional lederhosen look if it’s not your thing (and lets be honest, lederhosen are not for everyone!).  If you’re not keen on the idea, you could always have fun with an alternative outfit – maybe you could try out a ‘super six pack’ Beer Hero costume?  If you want to do something really different, you could even opt for a Zombie Oktoberfest costume!

The amount of costumes for women here is amazing – although they are all generally along the same ‘bar wench’ theme, the range of colours and styles are almost endless.  For the more daring amongst us, there are tonnes of gorgeous micro skirts puffed out with layers of tulle, corsets and gypsy style Bardot tops. If you’re less keen on the mini-skirt options though, you could always go for a longer length, more demure style and keep the focus on details such as laced corsetry, checks and gingham aprons.  Of course, no Oktoberfest Costume is complete without the essential item – a large tankard of great beer!

Try Something Different with an Oktoberfest Costume

  • Every year all the people in the western cities do celebrate the culture of Halloween. Apart from playing with the “treat or trick”, the event is also popular for wearing different types of dress, mostly the dresses being scary. Even this year, Halloween is approaching fast. What have you planned to wear on this Halloween? Are you thinking to re-wear what you wore last year? What about wearing something new in this Halloween? There are different types of Halloween costumes trending in the market. These costumes are popular among boys, girls and even children. Let us know some of the Halloween costumes that can be worn this year:

    1. Zombie costume: Among many other Halloween costumes, zombie costume is one of the most loved costumes. The main reason is that it looks really scary and one can have variety of choices even within the zombie costumes. If you want to be appearing as a soldier who died in a war, you can get a zombie soldier or if you want to be a doctor who was killed by a zombie, you can create similar dress as zombie doctor. You can do extra make-up to ensure that your face also looks like a zombie. Use of extra blood colour items can make your look scarier.
    2. Scarecrow costume: Another popular costume in the event is the scarecrow costume. This is as simple as the way you design a scarecrow in the field. There is a hat and the tops. The dress is slightly torn and rough.

These are the top two dresses that you can wear as a Halloween costume this year. Make sure that apart from dress, you do necessary make ups to make it more real.
