Everyone loves a uniform from time to time, and there is nothing that looks sharper than an army costume.  Whether it’s classic American GI or one of the famous British Army WWII type, they look great and are sure to get a reaction from your guests or hosts.  Glamorous, stylish and classic, they evoke memories of a time gone by and look great on everyone.

If you don’t fancy a full army type costume, you could try something along the lines of a land girl – the Woman’s Land Army was a British Institution famous in the Second World War for keeping the home fires burning while the men were away fighting.  There are many famous images of these women, as well as depictions in film and TV (most recently the TV series ‘Land Girls’).

Of course, despite the hardships of the times, the 1940’s were synonymous with glamour and these types of costumes are a great way to dress up and play with the red lips and ‘victory roll’ hairstyles that were the order of the day back then.  If the 1940’s aren’t your thing, you could always go with a more modern style, perhaps one of the American Army uniforms.  There are also lots of sexy variations on this theme, with lots of cute mini camouflage dresses and sharp tailored uniforms.  These look great with either boots or heels, and you could even add a pair of hold up stockings to add a modern twist to the theme.

This is also a great theme for the guys – army costume always look great and don’t take a great deal of effort to wear, whether they are American or British style.

This is another great theme for a party overall – you could have WWII themed food drink and music, perhaps stage your own VE day celebrations!
