The most important reasons why we wear clothes

With leaves being mankind’s first dress, clothes and dresses signify a giant step in civilisation. They appear to be a major element in the civilisation process of the entire human race. They are currently among the most basic of human needs albeit, for varying reasons. People wear clothes to serve several purposes and for various functions. Here are some of the most important reasons why people wear clothes.

Protection of the skin and body;

Clothes serve as an additional layer of security and extra protection. They can be assumed as some sort of second skin which safeguards your actual skin should you develop skin challenges such as rashes. They also safeguard your skin against natural elements like the sun, cold weather, fierce winds, and so on.

Representation of ones self;

Occasionally, we wear certain clothes to conform as part of a culture, group or preference. For example, you could wear the queen of hearts costume to identify yourself with Alice in Wonderland. An Indian female might wear an Indian Saree to a film festival not to identify with any group but to show her Indian roots. These are just to give you an example.

Modesty;

Although still being debated whether it’s right or wrong, society expects that you wear clothes for the sake of modesty. It has remained one among the main reasons why we wear clothes for as long as one can remember.

Individuality;

Humans are at all times truly expressive and communicative. People often use the choice of clothes they wear to express their mood, views and individuality. As an example, a person that wants to feel like a cowboy could choose to wear clothes of the Wild West costumes category. It is most times noted that individuals always wear clothes that match their individuality, views and moods.
