Happy Teletubbies Costumes for Adults

Teletubbies costumes are not just for pre-school kids and do you want to know why? These gorgeous babbling round creatures take us back to our childhoods. Kids that grew up with the original Teletubbies TV show in the late 1990s are now adults and it is a form of nostalgia. Each of the Teletubbies has its own colourful onesie, or one-piece costume, that has an inbuilt TV screen on its tummy panels. Although we know they are not human toddlers, we understand that this is very close to how a human toddler acts and sounds when they are learning to talk. The original TV show was designed to be watched by young toddlers but because they were so adorable, they became a very popular pop-cultural icon all over the world. In more recent times, there has been a revival with a new series.

You can find a Teletubbies suit for each of the main characters and they are really popular for groups to wear for cosplay events or fancy dress parties. Teletubbies are cult figures and are easily identifiable by their bright colours and fat-bellied shapes. Dressing up as Teletubbies in costumes as a group is great fun especially for university students. Because the Teletubbies do not speak, but babble, they are popular all over the world. Going to any comic convention, you will definitely see many Teletubbies costumes worn by adults.

Which Teletubby costume should I choose?

You can think about which of the Teletubbies outfits would suit you best by understanding their personalities. Each of the Teletubbies has its unique personality and if you are not sure which of the Teletubbies suit you best, there are episodes you can watch on YouTube to understand which most resembles your personality. There are four Teletubbies and each is defined by its own colour. The characteristics of each of the Teletubbies are:

Po - Red with an antenna that shoots bubbles, she is softly spoken and a bit shy

Laa-Laa - Yellow, with a curly antenna, she is kind with a peaceful personality and likes to sing and dance.

Tinky Winky - Purple with a triangle antenna, he is affectionate and sometimes does funny things.

Dipsy - Green with an antenna in the shape of a dipstick who enjoys dancing by wiggling his butt and falling down.

Features of good Teletubbies Costumes

The colour of each Teletubby costume should be either red, yellow, purple or green. It should have a reflective square on the belly, with a matching antenna with the right colour and shape. The body of the costume should be a onesie with built-in gloves and foot coverings.

The Teletubby onesie should be baggy because there needs to be a lot of space for someone to put a pillow or other stuffing to simulate the rounded bellies of the Teletubbies shape. A Teletubby outfit should also include a full hood over the back of the head but not covering the face, with sewn-in big ears. The antennas should also be included in the hood and they should match the colour of the costume.
